Armel Gonzalez
Armel Gonzalez was born and raised in Nicaragua, but earned his BS degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of New Orleans. To pay for his education, he worked in the construction trades, learning U.S. construction concepts and methodology. His development success stories include Los Balcones de Santo Domingo, and El Cafetal, both in Managua, and the grand coastal resort community of Arenas Bay on Nicaragua's western coast. Adventurous by nature, Armel Gonzalez is avid about all outdoor activities, especially horseback riding, fishing, and water sports. At home, Armel and his wife Adriana are raising their four children who range in age from six months to 11 years of age.
A Leader In Latin America Since 1991
Armel Gonzalez' track record of successful residential development sets his company Grupo Del Sol apart from other builders. Since 1991, he has played a key role in the development of numerous communities in Nicaragua. His metropolitan projects include Pueblo Viejo, Los Balcones de Santo Domingo, and El Cafetal, collectively a 247-acre tourist and residential development located on the outskirts of Managua.
Grupo del Sol's most ambitious project to date is the coastal resort community of Arenas Bay. Designed to be the finest neighborhood on Nicaragua's western coast, this master-planned, 600-acre community features heterogeneous clusters of homes and villas.
In 2008 Armel moved to Panama to develop one of
the most beautiful islands off the coast of Panama,
Isla Saboga in the Pearl Islands. The Pearl Islands
lie thirty-four miles off Panama’s Pacific
coast, and a flight from Panama City takes less than
30 minutes. Grupo del Sol, a well-respected Central
American developer, intends to develop Isla Saboga
with a very light footprint, limiting development to
the coastal rim of the island. With under a third of
Isla Saboga to be developed, two-thirds of the
island will remain in its current pristine
condition.
Armel states:
“Our promise is to preserve the natural
beauty, charm and history of the island, while
creating a world-class resort community and
fostering an upscale modern lifestyle for our
residents and visitors.” Grupo del Sol’s
goal is for its development to warrant Platinum LEED
certification which is the ultimate goal in
environmentally-friendly construction. Isla Saboga
is an $18 million master-planned development that
will proceed in phases. Phase I, El Encanto,
currently under construction and with 10 units
already sold, will offer Oceanfront Estates and
Beach Tree House Villas. Speaking of partnering with
GVA and Associates and Dr. Chiras, Gonzalez
states that Grupo del Sol has “assembled an
expert team to develop Isla Saboga in the most
sensitive and unobtrusive way possible.”
